..The silence that speaks..

It was one of such days. I had had such an awful dream the previous night. You know, one of those dreams that make you appreciate life, and all i wanted to do was to step out and just take care of me! For sometime now, i hadn’t treated myself to a meal outside. So after such a horrific night, i deemed it just perfect to do so.

Right after all the bath time rituals, i stepped out in search of a nice, cozy place to have lunch by myself(lol i know you may be thinking, whats wrong with this girl, trust me! its necessary sometimes) With summer’s finest hour just resting on my exposed arms and back, i finally found the perfect place to eat. I had been there a couple of times, but always with company, and this place, i must say, has one of the best sangrias!

Leaving my house, i grabbed my personal notebook, my Bible and a pen, in hopes of spending some time with God. I’ve seen several posts from people who go have lunch and then study the Bible. So i decided to follow suit to see what all the fuss was about.

MY very first lunch date wth God 🙂

After being served my delicious sangria, i waited for my food, and opened up a verse in the Bible, said a prayer and i meditated on it. I took down a few notes, i prayed, i listened, and i got answers. In the midst of the distractions outside, and notifications popping up on my phone, i spent quality time with God. It was beautiful. It was so refreshing as well. I had isolated myself from all distractions, and i heard Him speak. Ever heard the phrase, ‘God whispers to you because He is near?’ That is what it was, a bunch of whispers, a breath of fresh air. It was beautiful. It may not work for everyone, but it worked for me!

What is my point?

God is always speaking, you just need to quiet the other sounds and listen to Him in order to hear Him. He isn’t shouting because He is right next to you. You just need to be quiet and listen. One of my devotions said, “Sit Quietly in my presence while i bless you. Make your mind like a still pool of water, ready to receive whatever thoughts i drop into it..” – Jesus Calling.
